Geto Boys vs. Big Sean - Mind Playing Tricks On Me

|

The Geto Boys, who then consisted of Scarface, Willie D, and Bushwick Bill, released this iconic song on their 1991 album We Can't Be Stopped. This song has been the recipient of widespread critical acclaim and tells stories of nightmares, hallucinations, and paranoia. Simply put, it's an integral piece of hip-hop history.

Big Sean covered this song on his 2009 mixtape UKNOWBIGSEAN and it's a little lackluster. He earns a lot of brownie points just by covering this song, for sure, but he dumbed down the lyrics and made them kinda shallow and more obscene. That's just my opinion though, it's up to you which version you like better. I'll post the original + lyrics followed by Big Sean + lyrics. Lemme know what you think.

Best of 2011 - Big Sean ft. Nicki Minaj - Dance (A$$)

|

I've already posted this song but it's my absolute favorite of 2011 and Nicki just made it that much better. It's off Big Sean's debut album Finally Famous and the original was released on September 20th, while the remix was released on October 18th. This song peaked at #4 on the US Hot Hip-Hop charts and #10 on the Billboard Top 100. 2011 was a great start for Big Sean and I'm anxious to see what he brings to the table in 2012. Happy New Year :D

Best of 2011 - Big Sean ft. Kanye West - Marvin & Chardonnay

|

This was the second single off Big Sean's debut album Finally Famous, and was released on July 12th. This song peaked at #1 on the Hot Hip-Hop/R&B charts and made it to #32 on the Billboard Top 100.

Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Common, Charlie Wilson, Pusha T - Good Friday

|

Good Friday was released under Kanye West's 'G.O.O.D Friday' series, where he released a new song available for free download every Friday. This track features a myriad of samples, including "Got What I Need" by Freddie Scott, "La Di Da Di" by Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick, "I'll Say It Again" by Sweet Linda Divine, and "Hip-Hop VS Rap" by KRS-One. I'll put a few of them at the bottom :)

Big Sean - Dance (Ass)

Big Sean has been building a lot of buzz lately and I think it's safe to say hes on the fast track to blowing up. His flow isn't bad and he's got some good connections. I heard this song on the radio today and I love it!! Unfortunately, the lyrics are pretty lackluster; it's the same generic vapid shit that's all over the radio. The beat,  hook, and MC Hammer sample completely make up for it though. The fact that he's fine as hell doesn't hurt either..
