Frank Ocean Comes Out!!!

|

Today, Frank Ocean published a letter on his tumblr that confirms the rumors that he is gay (or at least bi). In some songs on his upcoming album Channel Orange, he sings about love with a man, which lead to speculation about his sexuality. He reveals that his first love was a male friend in this letter:

Tyler, the Creator responded to his friend and fellow OFWGKTA member's coming out with this tweet, showing that even though he uses homophobic slurs in his music, it does not mean he is anti-gay and that he supports Ocean coming out.

This is huge. Homosexuality carries many negative stigmas in both hip-hop and black culture, so to come out of the closet as a popular artist is not easy. This is a step towards understanding and acceptance in the hip-hop community and even though it will take A LOT more than one artist coming out to make a change in the minds of homophobic individuals, this was an extraordinarily brave move for Ocean and will hopefully prompt the community to rethink some things.

What do you think about homosexuality in relation to hip-hop? Do you think there is a big stigma against it? Did you have any idea Frank Ocean was gay? Because I sure didn't.

Y'know, I don't care either way whether a person is gay, straight, or bi. Seriously, a person's sexual orientation doesn't define them, or at least it shouldn't - the only exception I make to that is BDSM, especially when some of the humiliations/excrutiations are made public.

Hell, that just adds a delicious element to it, in my opinion.

Anyway, all this means is that when I say OMFGBBQ or whatever the hell they call themselves now are full of faggots, I can actually mean that in the normal, socially-accepted definition as well as homosexual.

Now, as far as gays in the hip-hop and black community is concerned...sheeeit, son. It's fairly obvious with some types, and I look at gays in the black community the same as I do with any race: whatever, dude.

Seriously, I was raised with the idea that this is America, the land of the free and home of the at least moderately intelligent. As the populace gets dumber, though, we're losing more of those freedoms. Freedom to love whomever you want SHOULD be up there, y'knowwhatImean?

As far as gay dudes in hip-hop, pfffft most of these so-called "entertainers" are fake as hell already. If they came out of the closet, at least it'd make for one less lie that they live with.

I honestly can't bespeak anyone their happiness. If dudes does it for ya, if chicks does it for ya, traps, transgenders, whatever...hey, so long as they make ya happy, I don't care either way.
