J Dilla - Won't Do

In case you haven't noticed, I really like J Dilla. This song is off the album The Shining, which he was still working on at the time of his death. Friends and family helped complete the album and release it posthumously, and many can be seen in the music video such as Common, Will.I.Am, Black Thought, Frank N Dank, and J Dilla's brother John. Their love and respect is palpable in this video..look at the blimp at 1:57 :)

Adult Swim Collection - J Dilla - Nothing Like This

James Yancey aka Jay Dee/J Dilla was a Detroit native and musical prodigy. He started collecting vinyl at the age of 2 and learned to play almost a dozen instruments. In his extensive career, he worked with Busta Rhymes, Common, Madlib, De La Soul, The Roots, etc..basically everybody with any talent in hip-hop. He suffered from lupus and a rare blood disease and continued to perform in a wheelchair as his health declined, showing his true passion for his art. He passed away shortly after his 32nd birthday in 2006 but his legacy continues and will go on for years to come. "Nothing Like This" is one of my all-time favorite songs and I was so excited to hear it on Adult Swim years ago. I hope you enjoy it :D
